Snowflake cinquain poems

Martin Luther King, Jr. art and "I have a dream..." writing

 Snowman art

If you're like me, you always wonder how teachers fit these fun "crativities" in.  Instead of setting aside a certain time, I now have my students complete them during reading workshop time.  Once my students complete their spelling, cursive, and reading group assignments, then they can do the art.  I do a quick example of how to complete it, put examples on the board, and then let them work.  It's kind of win-win because they students get to do something fun and I still meet with my reading groups.
