So, I'm back home with my family.  I've had a fun summer!  I was very sad to leave my friends because we've had such a great time this last month.  But, it will be so good to be at home and get a final break before school starts in a few weeks.

Went to my classroom for several hours today.  I got a few games and activities ready for some units.  I enjoyed being there.  It was nice using the copier, paper cutter, etc. whenever I liked. :)  My classroom needs a facelift.  I need to get some new borders.  I'll do that tomorrow.

I had a great day!  I met two of my best friends for lunch.  We haven't seen each other since May due to us being out of town at different times.  Man, we had such a fun time together.  I love when you are good enough friends that you never have that uncomfortable first 20 minutes of seeing each other before really talking.  I have been blessed with some very exceptional friends!

We had a great weekend. Friday night a group went to one of the ski resorts nearby and rode the moonlight lift. The resort does it from June-October each full moon weekend. I love the mountains. So pretty right now. And then Saturday, we to the new Harry Potter movie. My roommates and I really like HPott, so we made everyone in our group a HP treat bag. We had such a fun time creating and assembling them. Thank you, Pinterest, for some ideas; check out my personal blog to see pictures. (You can also check out my roommate Megan's blog post about our Harry Potter weekend.) I thought the movie was really good. I most definitely shed a few tears at certain parts: Harry's walk to the Forbidden Forest. I'm sad the Harry Potter era is over. What a fabulous series! How was your weekend? Did you see Harry Potter?

These photos relate to school is some roundabout way.

To say I love and enjoy Harry Potter is an understatement. I reread book 7 this past weekend/week. I can hardly wait to see the last movie this weekend. Anyway, I want to print this off poster size and put it up in my classroom.
So true. Dumbledore is the best.

Like I said yesterday, I took a district class this week. It's been at an elementary school in my district. This is the view from the playground. Aren't the mountains beautiful?

My coworker was in a terrible crash 2 years ago this fall. She got in a dirt bike accident that shattered her knee, and she had to stay in wilderness overnight while her husband got help. Last week, she had surgery to remove all the hardware in her knee. She was using crutches, but then the principal of the school got out the Jazzy for her. We laughed for a good 5 minutes and throughout the day as she tried to maneuver it.

I need to do something like this with my students if they get sent out. I would add "Why I was doing it:". I would keep these and put them in the students' files.

My tee shirt drawer. My shirts are folded, even if they don't look it. Do you think I like stripes?

At the end of reading Charlotte's Web as a class shared reading, I have my students write about who the Charlotte is in their lives. Someone never claimed theirs, and I found it in a pile of papers last week. I thought it was pretty cute. Especially the dad sentence.
I LOVE Charlotte's Web. I cry each time I read it. I think it is one of the sweetest and best books.

Sorry that I haven't posted. My sister, Rebekah, texted this to me today, "Update your blogs. Geez." I haven't had too much to post in the outfit department, and I haven't turned my computer in a couple days. Saturday, I spent the DAY in my bathing suit (I'm not exaggerating either). Sunday, I wore this. Monday, I wore a white tee with sweat pant shorts. Tuesday and today, I wore jeans and a plain colored tee. Not too exciting.

I've been in a district class this week. We've been talking and learning more about the Common Core. Most of the breakout sessions have been about writing. I've learned more about quick writes, quick jots, thinking boxes, and quick tries. Do any of you use those strategies in your classroom? How do you use them? I really want to do at least of them a day. Is your state switching to the Common Core?

Since I'm back at my apartment for a few weeks, I've had to actually get dressed because I've met up with friends and done other things. It's been such a pain, haha. ;)

Have you played the game BANG!? My neighbor taught us the other day. It's a lot of fun. It's like Mafia with Cowboys and Indians. I really enjoy playing games. What are your favorites?

I wasn't kidding when I said that I love dressing for the 4th of July! I wore this Saturday to watch the local hot air balloon festival and to the Stadium of Fire. Stadium of Fire was such a fun concert! Brad Paisley and David Archuleta performed. The fireworks were great!

I love the 4th of July! BBQs, fireworks, red/white/blue combinations, flag bunting, patriotic songs, parades. So, you better believe that every day this holiday weekend I wore red, white, or blue. Betsy Ross is one of my favorite women from history. :)
